Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na was my dream film! Everyday I daydream of being part of the group of six friends growing up together and falling in love together. Luckily part of my dream came true when I got to interview Nirav Mehta who played Jiggy in the film! My dreams and all you fans out there as well, who participated in our fan question portion. Thanks to everyone who participated in Niravs first International interview, brought to you exclusively at Saavn!
Reshma: George Bernard Shaw once said “There are two tragedies in life one is to lose your hearts desire the other is to gain it. What do you think about this saying?
Nirav: I’d find it hard to imagine that each person only has one desire. Though the thrill of getting what we desire is probably part of the reason we chase our dreams, I’d say its human nature we continuously want more.
Reshma: Was Jaane Tu.. a dream come true?
Nirav: Jaane Tu was my brush with destiny, it beckoned me.
Reshma: Dream girl…all the song is cut out to be or do they surprise you?
Nirav: I think if you classify anyone in a sense of a dream, you’ll wake up to a reality you may not like.
Reshma: What advice can you give to all those out there dreaming to act?
Nirav:Don’t dream about it, realize the business and the actuality of how things work. Be prepared for the highs and lows and at the end of the day, be confident, respect yourself and realize your own value.
Reshma: What did you dream about growing up?
Nirav: I am a day dreamer. . ..they come with more clarity. . .after all your eyes are open!
Reshma: Do you remember your dreams when you wake up in the morning?
Nirav: Dreams are the language of your sub conscience…As I said I’m more of a day dreamer…but I wake up daily with a renewed sense of my goals and desires for the future, those are with me daily and I never lose sight of where I’d like to be. If I remember something from a dream and it allows me to have a laugh to start off my day, that’s a bonus.
Reshma: How important is it to follow your dreams and face reality? Do you think it can be balanced?
Nirav:Balance between dreams and reality is knowing you may not take the path you saw yourself on to achieve your goals or desires. It’s important to have a dream and stay positive in your reality while working towards that dream. Keep dreaming but be ready to face reality, which might have some other plans for you.
Fan Question Portion:
Shivani: In Nazrein Milan Na, did you like holding the goat in the truck??? =)
Nirav: I don’t know about me, but by the end of the day the goat did ask me for my number. (Abbas still thinks that portion of the song is the cutest!!!)
Nikki: Hey Nirav what was your favorite scene to shoot
Reshma: I think Jiggy’s birthday party, the one where he invites everyone himself and conveniently calls it a SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY!
Namita: Do u have a girlfriend???
Reshma: The golden hair and the gaudy shirts and of course the red pants have MANAGED to keep me SINGLE -chuckles- (the goat still stalks all the prospective girlfriends and not to mention keeps calling my number!!!)
Juhi: Hey Nirav how are you? What is your ideal woman?
Nirav: I am very well Juhi, how about you? I think it’s really rare to find someone understanding, mature and has immense self-respect and who manages to look pretty at the same time –winks-. It’s so important these days to stand up for yourself and to provide an edge to the opposite sex while adding a pinch of humor to it! Someone who lets you be yourself and at the same time helps add value to ones own self without even letting you feel the burden of doing the same.
Jay: Did anything funny happen on set?
Nirav: Everything funny happened on set. I wonder if the incident where Abbas managed to cut my lip while personally trimming my fake mustache qualifies as funny!
Vinay: How are you different and similar to your character?
Nirav:The commitment to my character Jiggy provided a sense of similarity to him. Rest everything else is light-years away from me.
Sona: You constantly hear about how difficult it is to survive in Mumbai, how’s life been for you? Did you have to face a lot of difficulties?
Nirav: Well I was born and brought up here, but Sona the question is if you want to just survive or whether you want to live and spread your wings. There is no other city than Mumbai that assumes a life of its own and dishes out new experiences for you each day.
Jasmine:
Is it important to learn acting or is acting just an innate ability? Any acting tips you’d like to share with us?
Nirav: For me I personally think you are either born with it or you are not. I think there are better people out there to give out tips…I have made a small start in cinema and there is a long way to go. But for the bigger picture Jasmine: Be a better person than what you were yesterday. Analyze what your good at- improve on it and work on your negatives and that should also stand true for all the components of acting.
